Glad To See You (1944)

Opened at Shubert Theatre (Philadelphia)
Opened: November 13, 1944
Closed: January 6, 1945
The adventures of a USO troupe, co-starring and co-authored by gag writer, Eddie Davis. The stand-out song "B 'Postrophe" would resurface in the 1950 film "The West Point Story," performed by James Cagney. The torchy "Guess I'll Hang My Tears Out To Dry" would fare even better, receiving many recordings and becoming a popular standard.

Jule Styne's first attempt at writing a complete score for the stage wouldn't even make it into New York. But he'd be back three years later, again with lyricist Sammy Cahn, and with a smash hit.
