Broadway fell in love with Carol Channing when she swept onto the boards in 1949 as Lorelei Lee, and twenty-five years later authors Gail Parent and Kenny Solms, and lyricists Betty Comden and Adolph Green, updated the Jule Styne/Leo Robin/Anita Loos classic Gentlemen Prefer Blondes to accommodate the talents of the still indomitable Channing as the adorably acquisitive Lorelei Lee.
