Broadway

Bells Are Ringing (1956)

Opened at Shubert Theatre
Opened: November 29, 1956
Closed: March 7, 1959
Ella Peterson can't help meddling in people's lives, and she finds the perfect outlet for her passion as an operator at Susanserphone, her cousin's telephone answering service. Before Ella is finished, she'll foil an illegal gambling operation, transform a dentist into a successful composer and turn a lonely playwright into the man of her dreams.

The sparkling score features marvelous comedy songs introduced by the inimitable Judy Holliday, and boasts two of Broadway's best-loved standards, "The Party's Over" and "Just In Time."
