Three-time Tony nominee Kelli O'Hara stars with Will Chase in the New York City Center Encores! production of Bells Are Ringing. O'Hara will play the role of Ella Peterson with Chase as Jeffrey Moss. Also featured in the cast are Dylan Baker (Inspector Barnes), Bobby Cannavale (Blake Barton), Judy Kaye (Sue Summers), Brad Oscar (Dr. Kitchell), David Pittu (Sandor Prantz), Danny Rutigliano (Francis), Jeffrey Schecter (Carl) and John C. Vennema (Larry Hastings).
Performances for the first Encores! production of the season will be Nov. 18-21. The production will be directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall with music direction by Rob Berman.

The 18th season of the City Center Encores! series will kick off Nov. 18 with the 1956 Jule Styne, Betty Comden and Adolph Green musical Bells Are Ringing. Performances will continue through Nov. 21. In Bells Are Ringing — with music by Styne and book and lyrics by Comden and Green — "a lonely girl who runs an answering service falls for a client she has met only by voice, and typical 1950's mayhem ensues."
The original Broadway production, directed by Jerome Robbins and choreographed by Robbins and Bob Fosse, opened on November 29, 1956 and ran for 924 performances. It starred Judy Holliday and Sydney Chaplin and featured Jean Stapleton, Eddie Lawrence, George S. Irving, Jack Weston, and Peter Gennaro. The show was nominated for 4 Tony Awards and won 3 including Best Actress in a Musical (Judy Holliday) and Best Featured Actor in a Musical (Sydney Chaplin).

The 1959 original cast recording of Gypsy was among 25 recordings selected last month to the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry. Each year 25 recordings that are considered "culturally, historically or aesthetically significant" and at least 10 years old are selected to the registry as directed by the National Recording Preservation Act of 2000.
